Tips for Proper Facial Care
Sparkling eyes can be achieved without ever going to the salon for a professional makeup. As long as you keep your eyes and the skin around it in healthy condition, applying eye makeup is just icing on the cake. In order to soothe dark circles around the eye area, try massaging several drops of coconut oil on the skin. You can also use the extract from a crushed cucumber, adding rose water, and applying the resulting mixture around the eyes, before washing it off to achieve a similar effect; or you can use a solution of equal parts of tomato and lemon juice, with the same end result.
As complement to your beauty rest, mix a paste-like consistency out of sandalwood and some nutmeg, and apply this mixture on the skin around the eyes before going to sleep, and then wash it off as soon as you wake up. To reduce the swell in puffy eyes after a rough night, fill a soft cloth with a grated potato and place the bag over your eyes for at least fifteen minutes. You can also add sparkle into your eyes by putting a pinch of rock salt in your face wash water every morning; try wiping the lids with apple juice for the same effect. You can ease the laugh lines on the skin near the temple area by massaging it with corn or castor oil. Crow’s feet may be soothed with an application of petroleum jelly or jojoba oil, or with a homemade cream out of a mixture of warm lanolin and almond oil.
Finally, the best treatment you can possibly give your eyes is to give yourself enough sleep and to take sufficient supplements, especially vitamin A. Lack of sleep and poor nutrition usually manifest themselves in a dulled eye sheen, eye bags, and dark circles on the same area. Keep your diet healthy and nutritious, and your eyes will partake in the benefits.
The lips are one of the more sensuous parts of the face, and as long as you keep them healthy and moisturized, they can be a major asset in your enhanced beauty. In order to prevent dryness, you need to keep your body hydrated by drinking plenty of water every day. Dehydrated lips are chapped and flaky, and enough water intake solves half of the problem. You’ll also need an excellent lip balm to keep the moisture on the lips from wearing off. Lip balms are available with moisture barrier features, while at the same time containing antiseptic ingredients for treating infection which are caused by cracked lips. Make sure you have enough nutrition, including foods rich in vitamin C, B, and E in your daily diet. These diets are generally good for your body, and it also has some special benefits for your lips.
If ever you suffer from dry, chapped, or cracked lips, you may treat them with a mixture of equal parts of glycerin, lime juice, and rose water; apply this solution on your lips on a daily basis, as soon as you wake up and before you go to bed, letting the solution set into the lips to achieve the best results. You can also try a mixture of equal portions of nutmeg, turmeric powder and butter as a homemade lip balm. The inclusion of turmeric powder in the mix serves as an antiseptic, while the fresh butter aids in healing the lip cracks. You may also moisturize your lips with regular salves of warm water on a cotton bud, followed by an application of a mixture of equal amounts of glycerin, petroleum jelly, and honey. Leave this last application for at least an hour before washing it off, and you’ll have moist, supple lips in as soon as ten days after the first treatment.
The toll which stress and aging takes on the body is most obviously seen on facial skin. This area also suffers from the effects of acne and blackheads as a result of stress and an improper hygiene. In order to have healthier facial skin you need to have a healthy lifestyle. Try to get at least six hours of sleep everyday, follow a well-balanced diet, and always use makeup which is compatible to your skin type; see to it that you remove all of it before going to bed, without leaving any residue behind. Avoid smoking and alcohol intake altogether, and you will see the improvements in clear and supple skin in due time.
To maintain the skin’s surface moisture, always have a spray bottle of water with you, and regularly spray your face with it (even if you have foundation on). Blemishes may be soothed with an ice pack application before using cosmetic concealers or makeup. Mint juice may be used to treat acne and pimples; you can also try an evening face wash of raw milk before going to bed, or use scrapings of a karela gourd peels to rub on your face on a daily basis for a week; this last treatment effectively reduces blackheads as well. For an effective pretreatment of blackheads, hold the face over a steaming dish for five to eight minutes, so that the pores will open up and the cleansing will be more thorough.
If you really want an intensive facial treatment, you’ll need to apply a face mask. They are beneficial to the skin since they moisturize its outer layer, cleanse the pores, and supply them with the vitamins needed for rejuvenation. Since most face pack consistencies are all-natural or herbal in nature, you won’t go wrong with the treatment.
If your skin belongs to the normal types, try applying a weekly face mask made out of milk powder and egg white. Just mix a half teaspoon of powdered milk with one-fourth teaspoon of egg white and half a teaspoon of lemon juice, and apply the paste on your face, leaving it to set and dry out. Mixtures of gram flour and carrot juice, or of sandalwood with coconut milk, are also effective in achieving the same results.
Oily facial skin may be remedied with a strawberry mask. Just mash about a dozen ripe strawberries to a pulp, and make a paste out of it with two table spoons of honey before applying on the face and leaving it to set for a half hour. A mixture of a tablespoon of apple juice and one-fourth teaspoon lime juice applied on the face will also have the same effect, or you can try mashing a banana and adding a tablespoon of honey to the mix. A runny application of egg white and honey is also a great face mask for oily skin types.
For dry skin, a treatment mixture of gram flour and turmeric is most effective in putting moisture back on the pores. This face mask also can be used as a facial scrub if preferred. Just sift a cup of gram flour and add a dollop of turmeric powder, and then pour in warm water and milk while mixing, until the consistency is paste-like and free of lumps. Apply the thick paste on your face down to the neck, and leave it to dry and set for a half hour before rubbing it off with your fingers. You can also try a face pack of mashed boiled cabbage, mixed with two tablespoons lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey. As soon as the application dries out, you may wash it off thoroughly with cold water.
