Tips for Overall Wellbeing

The preceding beauty tips are merely superficial and lip service when compared to the long-lasting benefits which the following has to offer.  Beauty is far from being just external.  If you maintain a healthy lifestyle, your body will flaunt the difference.  And although you have exhausted all of the possible cosmetic products, rejuvenating creams and home remedies available, if you don’t keep your body in tip-top condition, your efforts will prove to be fruitless in the long run.

The first step to a healthy wellbeing is a well-balanced diet.  This includes nutritional meal components such as fruits and vegetables, good carbohydrates, and occasional protein intake from lean meat.  Fat should be reduced, but not eliminated altogether.  Your body needs enough levels of fat and carbohydrates in order to maintain the energy to get through the day.  Whole grain cereals and whole wheat or multigrain bread are rich in fiber, which helps the body in efficiently flushing out toxins.   Limit your intake of refined cereals such as white bread or rice, and potato or yams, as these contain high levels of the wrong type of carbohydrates.  Processed foods such as supermarket burgers and dehydrated fries should also be taken out of the diet, especially if they need to be deep-fried before being consumed.  Keep this food regimen in place and your body will reap the benefits of renewed health.

When you think about the fact that the body is at least ninety percent water, you’ll immediately come to the conclusion that hydration is an essential part of well-being.  It is true that the body needs constant replenishment through an intake of water, especially during periods of intense activity when the skin tends to sweat a lot, and during hot weather when the body quickly uses up its water reserve.  The usual requirement of eight to ten tall glasses of water for an entire day is sufficient in replacing this loss, but you’ll need to sustain your body’s hydration needs constantly if you are a typically active person.  In this case, a liter of water every day is recommended.

The only time the body has the opportunity to recharge itself is during sleep.  During this rest period, the muscles and bodily functions take a breather, and the cells fulfill their role in distributing nutrients to the body efficiently.  This is why a person who has enough sleep on the previous night is noticeably more vibrant and cheerful on the following day.  On the other hand, inadequate sleep leads to sallow and tired skin, eye bags, and a sullen disposition.  In order to avoid these consequences, six to eight hours of restful sleep is needed by the body to recompense for the entire day’s demands.  Your sleeping area should also be conducive to such a purpose.  Keep the room cool, quiet, and calm.  The windows should have curtains thick enough to block out external light.  Keep the appliances as far away from the room as possible.  Before sleeping, avoid alcohol and caffeine intake, as these are stimulants which can keep you awake all night instead of aiding in your respite.

An effective exercise regimen also helps in burning up the calories and fat which is stored in the body.  In fact, every form of physical activity is considered as exercise as long as it keeps the muscles moving and the body in motion.  Even a brisk walk around the block every morning is very healthy if done regularly.  A good exercise plan must include cardiovascular, aerobic, and muscle toning disciplines.  If you want to sculpt your body in addition to keeping it healthy, then a membership in a local fitness club is recommended.

Proper posture is also an important part of total well-being.  Most people take this for granted because the effects are not readily evident.  The tolls which an improper posture takes on the body usually take years to accumulate, but observable effects are visible at the onset of old age, in the form of hunches and gait disorders.  Maintaining correct posture is essential to a more pleasant physical appearance, and a healthier body state.  You must consciously keep your spine aligned to your neck and head; to achieve this position, your back should remain straight, with your shoulders pulled backwards and downwards, and your head high and focused straight ahead.  Maintain this bearing whenever you stand up, walk, or sit, and your body will eventually get used to the pleasant change.

Tense muscles at the end of the day may be soothed with a full-body massage.  A relaxing massage even has therapeutic benefits if it is complemented by a mud bath or a body scrub.  It promotes healthy blood circulation throughout the body, effectively reduces stress at the first touch, and even aid in the healing process of an internal sickness or injury.  Full body massages are readily offered by relaxation spas and saunas, or if you prefer, you can perform a massage on your partner every night to give him or her similar benefits.
